SLJ Lesson 3 Part 2

The Sport that I chose was Net Ball. I have chosen this sport because I think it is very energetic and includes a lot of team work which I think is great.

My favorite sports player is Richie McCaw even though he has retired I loved watching him play Rugby.

SLJ Lesson 2

Kon'nichiwa! I have arrived to Japan and am in the airport right now. I am trying to memorize how to say "do you know how to speak English?" in Japanese which is "Eigo o hanasemasu ka?", this is going to be hard. Anyways I'm looking forward to go and try out different foods!

Here me and my friend are eating some yummy juicy kiwi fruit which is a New Zealand Breakfast!

In summer I love to do a lot of things. I like to go swimming with my family and eat fish n chips afterwards, I also like this because sometimes I meet my friends at the pool! I also like to have sleep overs with my family and friends in the holidays. Also something I could never forget is staying up all night just watching movies and eating!

Summer Activities
1) Movie Marathons
2) Sleeping Late
3) Gymnastics
4) Road Trip
5) Reading

SLJ Japan

Japan

For the Summer Learning journey we had to choose a country to work on. I chose Japan! The Capital City in Japan is Tokyo it is also one of the main cities. In Tokyo the population of people in 2015 were 9.273 million people.Tokyo is also located in the southern part of Japan. There are 5 main cities which are Kyoto, Hiroshima, Sendai and Osaka!

The population of Japan is 127.1 million people. Japan is also a country in the Pacific Ocean. Japan is located to the east of Russia, China and Korea. In Tokyo the language that is spoken is Japanese. In Japan their Money (Currency) is called Yen [JPY].

Some of the national sports in Japan are Sumo Wrestling, Football (Soccer) and Baseball. In January in Tokyo the season is Winter. Winter starts from December to February.

Two Facts About Japan!

Square Watermelons are grown by Japanese farmers for easier stack and store!

The Japanese who survived the Titanic crash were called cowards in their country for not dying with the other passengers.

A reason I would like to go to Japan is so that I can be able to go and try out the different foods that originated from Japan and so that I can see the different sites in Japan!

Splash!

WALT: compose a poem about the waterslide

Splash!

Excitement filled the air at the waterslide.
Impatiently waiting for my turn.
Hearing screams and laughter everywhere.
Seeing people land in the mud or people coming to halts.
My turn now.
Water splashing all about.
Then a whole Octopus of water wrapped around my face.
Not knowing what just happened, I slid roughly into the mud.

Earning My Trust (Unfinished)

WALT: write descriptive recount about Senior Camp.

In St. Bernadette's every two years the Senior School always goes to camp for three days and two nights. We went to Woodend Christian Camp this year and today we had to write a recount about an activity we thought we couldn't achieve but ended up did.

Team Building
I thought this activity was going to be the worst, turned out it was my favorite.

One of the activities we did at camp was Team Building. I had heard a lot about this and most of the things I had heard were all negative things about it. When it was my groups turn to go to Team Building I got a bit scared from all the negative things people said about it.

When we got there we met one of the camp instructors and his name was Willy. We did this activity that was like us trying to solve it, so we had to hold hands with each other and there were two big wooden poles and we kind of made an infinity sign and we had to try and go all around the two poles and then try and get to the place we were before but without letting go of each other. After a while Tali came up with an idea and we ended up going much faster in doing it.

After this activity we went to these other two long wooden poles and there was a pole on top of them as well. We had to try and get to the top of the pole and hang there and drop off. The boys were on one side and the girls were on the other side. While climbing up we had to climb on Tali’s back and then when we got to the top we had to wrap our body around the top pole making us look like a sloth and then we had to flip over and drop to the ground. When I jumped to the ground I felt very shocked that I actually survived this.

The last activity we did was the climbing wall this was probably the most interactive and exciting one we did and in this one we had to again climb onto someone’s back and get lifted up and we had to try and get our shoulders over the wall and pull ourselves up. Max stayed up at the top to carry us up. You were only allowed three people on the top so when you got up you either just volunteered to get off or you could do “Rock, Paper, Scissors”.

The Art Gallery

My mum pushed me in the car, it was my birthday and my mum had blindfolded me and said she was going to take me somewhere she knew I would love. At first I thought it was going to be pretty boring but when we got there and my mum took the blindfold off I was so excited she had driven us to an art gallery, I loved it because I love art and my mum knows that as well.

When we stepped inside it was beautiful, art everywhere and crafts and information about different artists but as we passed this one exhibition something just felt weird about it, it was a big rusty robot, it kind of reminded me about transformers, but then that’s when it happened.

The robot moved and blinked it’s eyes I knew I wasn’t dreaming I told my mum but she said it was just my imagination, but as soon as I was about to shrug it off the glass around it broke and the robot moved forward I screamed as loud as possible but then, it stepped on my mum I heard her screaming but then it started to die down, I started to cry. After it had moved my mum was gone I was in a whole lot of shock and wondered what had happened to her.

When I stood up the robot looked down at me and I knew if I didn’t run it would kill me I started running as fast as I could but it was to late I was caught. This was not the birthday I was planning…

The Man In The Painting

“Hurry up and get in the car” That’s what my brother said before picking me up and throwing me in his car. We were going to go to an abandoned art gallery center that had been there for more than fifty years. My brother looked it up and it was said to be haunted I begged him telling him I didn’t want to go but he forced me to come with him. When we got there a chill ran down my back I was so scared but my brother forced me to come in I declined so he left but then I started to get scared I ran after him and he called me a scaredy cat as we walked through we could see that there was still paintings in there I was actually surprised because it looked like none of them were moved but then…

As we walked past one painting I got another chill down my spine I don’t know why but I could feel someone’s eyes staring at me I turned around and looked at the painting. It was a man and a woman probably his wife both standing there with blank expressions on their faces I thought it was a weird picture but shrugged it off but as I turned away I knew someone was staring at me that’s when it happened all the paintings just started flying around I noticed my brother wasn’t there anymore I ran but then heard my brother screaming my name “MICHELLE, MICHELLE” I was so happy to hear his voice it was pitch black and I ran to where I could hear it I bumped into someone assuming it was my brother I hugged him but then my heart nearly stopped when he said “your not going anywhere” I looked up eyes wide opened and screamed that wasn’t my brother it was the man from the picture now giving me a wide lip smile that was the most creepiest thing I've ever experienced in my life I yanked my body out of him and jolted to the car as I ran I saw my brothers body on the floor.

At this point tears started flowing down my cheeks I kept running I got to the car and thankfully the keys were there, I felt guilty leaving my brother behind and seeing his body there I wonder if he was dead or just unconscious and if I would’ve had a chance to save him.

Sacraments

WALT : Write an Information Report

Sacraments

There are Seven Sacraments that you can celebrate as part of the Catholic Religion. The first Sacrament you go through is baptism. You receive this Sacrament when you’re a baby (or you may be Baptised as an adult).

The Seven Sacraments are Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing Of The Sick, Matrimony (Marriage) and Holy Orders. Three of the Sacraments are The Sacraments Of Initiation. These three Sacraments are Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation in that order . When you receive Baptism you are washing your original sin away, this is actually a ritual action. When you receive Eucharist you are receiving the body and blood of Jesus. When you receive Confirmation you have to be 12 years of age and that’s when you confirm your belief in God, and you are renewing your baptismal promises.

The meaning of Sacrament is that it is something that you can see that reminds you about the power and love of God Te Atua who cannot be seen.

When you get Baptised the priest pours holy water over your head in the baptismal font. When you receive Eucharist it’s when the bread and wine turn into the body and blood of Christ. When you receive Confirmation the priest or Bishop lays their hands over your head this is called “The Laying On Of The Hands”, this is a ritual action. Also when finished you are initiated into the church and become a full member of the church.

Through your life you will end up receiving all of these 7 Sacraments. All of these Sacraments include God and the Holy Spirit who are watching over as you receive all of these 7 Sacraments. When you are receiving all of these Sacraments you are also increasing the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Starry Night Poem

WALT recreate a famous artist's painting, while incorporating New Zealand Themes and Celebrations.

For this we had to recreate Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night Painting and we turned it into a Matariki painting including the Seven Stars of Matariki. After that we made a poem about stars and after we did that Mrs Lee took a picture of our Matariki paintings and we put it onto a google drawing and then put in our poem.
