Sacraments

WALT : Write an Information Report

Sacraments

There are Seven Sacraments that you can celebrate as part of the Catholic Religion. The first Sacrament you go through is baptism. You receive this Sacrament when you’re a baby (or you may be Baptised as an adult).

The Seven Sacraments are Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing Of The Sick, Matrimony (Marriage) and Holy Orders. Three of the Sacraments are The Sacraments Of Initiation. These three Sacraments are Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation in that order . When you receive Baptism you are washing your original sin away, this is actually a ritual action. When you receive Eucharist you are receiving the body and blood of Jesus. When you receive Confirmation you have to be 12 years of age and that’s when you confirm your belief in God, and you are renewing your baptismal promises.

The meaning of Sacrament is that it is something that you can see that reminds you about the power and love of God Te Atua who cannot be seen.

When you get Baptised the priest pours holy water over your head in the baptismal font. When you receive Eucharist it’s when the bread and wine turn into the body and blood of Christ. When you receive Confirmation the priest or Bishop lays their hands over your head this is called “The Laying On Of The Hands”, this is a ritual action. Also when finished you are initiated into the church and become a full member of the church.

Through your life you will end up receiving all of these 7 Sacraments. All of these Sacraments include God and the Holy Spirit who are watching over as you receive all of these 7 Sacraments. When you are receiving all of these Sacraments you are also increasing the grace of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Dear Siale,

I really like how you explained what the Sacraments were and what happens when you do them. I enjoyed reading your work. Now I know a little more about what the seven sacraments are. Maybe next time you could work on using technical vocabulary and try to not repeat words, Otherwise you did really well. Keep working hard.

  2. Kia ora Siale,
It's Antonette from St. Bernadette's School. You have really worked hard on your Information Report. I liked the part where your writing said that God and the Holy Spirit are watching over us when we are receiving the Seven Sacraments. Your writing made me think about when I received my First Holy Communion. Next time you could use different sentence starters in your writing so you don't repeat the same thing again. Keep Working hard Siale!

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
