Do You Know What An ANZAC Mascot Is?

Kia Ora!

These few weeks we have been learning more about ANZAC Day and writing about how it was and reading stories. This week we have been reading and learning about ANZAC Mascots which were animals that soldiers brought to war for many different reasons e.g comfort.

This week we were given 2 activities and the first one was to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on what we have learnt about how mascots were used in the war and the second was to make our own ANZAC Mascots and we had to show how it could help the soldiers while they are fighting in the war!

I put all of these things in a slideshow because it all related together and it was easier to do.

Something I enjoyed with making this was definitely tracing my Mascot because it was so CUTE!

I didn´t actually struggle with anything and enjoyed doing all the tasks!

  1. Hi Siale, thank you for sharing that information about mascots. I enjoyed reading about the many reasons why soldiers had mascots during the war. Some of those animals must have been very frightened, do you think it was a good idea for animals to be in the battlefield with soldiers? What other kind of mascots did the soldiers have, other than animals?

  2. Kia Ora Miss Satherly!
Thank you for spending the time to comment on my blog. I have read what you have said and I agree that a lot of them must have been really scared, if i was one i´d definitely be scared.

I think yes, it was a good idea to have the animals in the battlefield because they probably gave a lot of the soldiers comfort that they
weren´t alone while fighting! I think there were only animals that served as the mascots for the soldiers because the articles that we read were only about animals and I looked it up and only found articles about animals. Thank you for commenting on my blog again!
